Local/Fresh Produce

I am really big on buying seasonal berries and freezing them so I can enjoy them year round. How about you? I also love stopping by the area apple orchard and picking peaches and apples and canning them for the year.
I froze blueberries this past summer and we are on the last of them. I am also on the last few jars of applesauce and peaches:( Summer needs to arrive so I can go to the farmers market and local farms to purchase more. There is just something about going and picking fresh fruit that I just love!

I had a wonderful treat tonight. Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries. YUM-O

  1. I really want to do more with my food.. but I am renting at the moment and don't have a shed. I want to restart beekeeping, get a load of local grass fed meats, do more with my garden and start canning.. one day.

  2. I would love to do similar things. I used to do it with my gran when I was a kid, it is so great!

  3. I'm too lazy so I just buy them frozen.... LOL... I do plan to make good use of the Farmer's Markets this Spring & Summer though!

  4. Hey :o)
I just found your blog through trawling the web. You have some great snack options here! I'm always looking for low cal snack ideas. Good on you for preserving your own fruits. It's definately the way to go. I didn't know blueberries could be frozen. I might just steal that idea ;o)
I freeze stir fry veges in bulk serving size bags. Makes things sooooo much easier!
Keep up the good work. 44+ lbs is awesome work!!
